Plane booked? Check. Car reserved (pardon me, I mean SUV)? Check. GoPro camera with cool accessories to film? Check. Blog set up (HI!)? Check.
Sometimes I think to myself that I must be crazy. Then I thank God I'm crazy and not boring. Why live life boringly, stuck on a ratty recliner in front of the boob tube chomping on stale chips and crap beer? No thanks. I prefer my life full of fascination, wonder and a lot of craziness thrown in. (Let's not forget the delicious microbrew beers as well).
This road trip will be epic in my book of travels. First, I have no real agenda. Sure, I've got ideas of things I want to see, but the days ahead during this trip will be more of a "yeahhh....I think I will take off at 7 this morning and drive until I see a cool looking diner or a random interesting thing to stop and see along the way". Yeah, that's my kind of adventure. And the best part? I have no one there to hold me back or to say the dreaded words, "can we stop? I have to pee AGAAAAAINNNN!" Good lord that would drive me bonkers.
I am a beer snob. I plan to try unusual beers along the way. Know of a cool brewery or restaurant that sells homemade brew? Please share. Yes please. Share. Karma is good for the soul. And of course, I plan to stop at a few famous places. I have done my research and will (fingers crossed) make it to the Midpoint Cafe before they close for the season. I have also looked into staying in an old RV at the Enchanted Trails RV park in Albuquerque. They generally close in November (at least the rentals of the RV's) due to the cold of the winter months. However, I've been able to work with the owners and sleep in one (sans water or plumbing) just so I can experience the general awesomeness of a '50's RV.
People are generally fabulous. I can't wait to visit these great places and meet these wonderful people along the way. As for the funding link from my previous blog, I shut it down. I got nada (no big deal...wasn't expecting anything anyway.) Keep watching this page for wild stories to come...
T-Minus 10 days.....
