Almost October?

Tomorrow will be the first day of October.  Just a little over a month away until my awesome road trip starts.  I figured I would throw out a gofundme page to see if anyone would donate to my experience.  So far, nada, but that's totally fine.  Like Wayne Gretzky says, "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take".  If anyone out in blogreadingland would like to donate, here's the link:

Go Fund My Trip

I thank you for any and all support I may receive from strangers.

As for what else is going on, I'd like to make a shout out and a thank you to both Pennzoil and Budget Travel for helping out.  Budget Travel recognized me as a trending topic on Twitter (find them at @budgetTravel), and Pennzoil discovered my road trip and is sending me a gift for being an adventurer on the open road.  I will share what they send when I receive it in the mail.

I've got a good idea for the early legs of the trip as to what I would like to see.  Things such as a giant golf ball house, a UFO crash site, and the Cadillac Ranch, among others.  Then of course there's the Grand Canyon.  That is a MUST see!!

Thanks for reading my blog, for any donations I receive on the funding site, as well as any social media assistance that may come along down the road.  (See how I put that pun in there?  Very apropos, if I may say so myself).

As for suggestions, I'm open game! Let's hear 'em!

Mother of Road Trips

Route 66.  The Mother Road.  The road of all roads....

That's my plan.  To tackle the mother of all roads in November.  Well, most of it anyway. Alone.  I will be starting in Los Angeles and ending in New England.  Along the way I will visit odd ball sights, visit with people I know, and hopefully, meet many, many new people.

Why am I doing this?  Why not.  A road trip across this great country is always in the back of many minds.  It's a trip those with an adventurous soul have on their bucket list.  I've driven across the U.S. many times, but always with a mission.  I helped my sister move from Boston to L.A., I've gone to college in Colorado, and moved to Utah.  I've been around these great states.  But....I have not seen them all.  I have some time, so now is the perfect moment for a road trip.  This time, I will be stopping to see the sights, and to smell the roses.

The countdown is on.   Just about two months away is the great date to start the journey.  Along the way, I will be blogging my journey on a daily basis.  Hopefully there will be great stories to share.  If anything, photographs will be added so my visions of the day will be shared with all who read this blog.

How excited am I?  I'm like a damn kid in a candy store.  So much to see, so little time.  My itinerary is limited.  I have a map, some ideas of things to see and do along the way, and that is pretty much it.  I will take each day as it comes.  I don't want to plan too much for this.  After all, it is an old road with many gems along the way.  If I plan too much, I will not be on the lookout for the random offbeat and unusual, or unexpected find, along the way.  I'm throwing caution to the wind and plan to just take each day as it comes.

Ideas, people you may know along the way, or great places that are a must-see are welcome.  After all, this journey has flexibility.  Help me make it a great one.
